First Date Fashion Tips For Men

Going on that first date? Picking her up, giving her flowers, selecting the restaurant, footing the bill - these are all part and parcel of a date. But it doesn't end or start there either.

Yes, it's important to have a sense of humor, be a good conversationalist, and to establish a connection but it is also essential to dress up for your female companion. The way you look will play a very big part, especially on your first date where she will be making her first judgments about you.

Here are some tips for single guys on how to dress up for your first date. As gorgeous as she looks, don't leave the looking good part up to the woman. Show her that you also have got your own style and give her something to look at as well.

Dress up according to what kind of date you will be going on. Will you be watching a rock concert? Now that's an event where a vintage band t-shirt wouldn't feel so out of place. Will you be going to an art gallery opening of a new painter/sculptor? Wear more formal but still stylish clothes so you'd feel smart and chic while hobnobbing with the artists and checking out the brilliant artwork with your equally stunning date.

Perhaps you will be going the tried and tested route of having a fancy dinner at an elegant restaurant? Nothing wrong with that, but check with the restaurant first as some establishments impose strict formal evening dress codes. You don't want to show up in a business casual outfit when the restaurant manager demands that you be in a suit and tie.

Dress to impress but don't overdo it. You want to look nice for your date and feel comfortable at the same time. Your favorite outfit should do the trick for you but leave behind the over worn pieces of clothing. Also, leave home things that will make you feel self-conscious and keep you obsessing over how you look throughout your entire date. You want to focus on your date, not on how you look. Show some personality through your outfit but don't do it with a shirt that has "number one sex instructor" printed on it.

If you really haven't got anything to wear, go ahead and buy a nice new outfit. A brand new outfit can make you feel infinitely more confident and boost your self-esteem - two things that a single guy desperately need. However, resist the temptation to buy something trendy and seemingly cool looking but isn't really you. Sure it may look nice for the first date, but what will you be wearing later on? Get an outfit that is similar to what you already wear. Don't try to fool her into thinking that you're someone you're not because she will find out sooner or later.

Aside from these, don't neglect proper grooming and hygiene. The snazziest outfit can be ruined by the slightest hint of bad breath. Looking your best on your first date can help you snag a second date, and hopefully more dates in the future.
