Asking her for a date:

• Try to get to know your date before you ask her out. This will let you know if you have common interests and beliefs, and will help you to think of things to say when you are on the date. • Ask her out when you are alone. You don't want her to embarrass you by saying "no" to you in front of other people. During the date:

• Be prepared. Make sure you have made any necessary reservations in advance. Let her see that you have made an effort.
• Don't be late. Make sure that you don't have any other appointments on the day of the date, so that you don't have to rush to get from one place to the next.
• Take care of your appearance. Make an extra effort to be well groomed. Wear clothing that makes you look good and is appropriate for where you are going.
• Be polite. Not just to her, but to everyone you interact with during your date, such as the maitre d' in the restaurant or the person selling tickets in the theater lobby. No matter how well dressed you are, being rude or aggressive makes you look ugly.
• Pay attention to your date. Ask her about herself - her job, her interests. Listen to what she has to say, and do not interrupt her. When you do answer her, do so in a way that shows that you have been listening carefully to what she has been saying. Say your date's name at various times during your conversations, so she knows that you are thinking of her. You should make sure that your cell phone is turned off, so that you do not have to speak to anyone else during your date.
• Be honest about yourself. Tell her about your job and your interests. Don't let her feel that you are hiding something and can't be trusted. Don't make up lies to impress her. If she doesn't like the real you, she isn't worth dating.
