Questions You MUST Ask |
An advantage of online dating is that it allows you to spend a long time getting to know someone before you meet them in person. You and a potential date can learn about each other through emails, instant messages and chatroom conversations. The downside of getting to know someone online is that they can be selective about what information they reveal. Sometimes they may be hiding things, but often they might not think that certain things are imporant to discuss, or they just might be afraid of ruining a fun conversation by talking about serious matters. If you are considering a more serious relationship, however, there are some questions that you should ask your potential date to help make sure that things work out when the relationship moves to the next level: 1. What are you looking for in a date? If the other person answers this question directly and honestly, you can get a good idea if the two of you would be compatible on a date. On the other hand, if the other person avoids answering the question or gives a quick answer that doesn't show much thought, then they might not know what they want in a relationship yet. It might be a good idea for you not to take the relationship further until they are more sure about what they want. 2. What makes a successful relationship? This will give you an idea of what the other person thinks is important in a relationship. You should be wary of an answer that indicates that they think that one person must do all the work in a relationship. 3. Why did your last relationship end? Look for how the other person apportions the blame. They shouldn't completely blame themselves, but they shouldn't completely blame their ex, either. If they say that both people were partly to blame, it is a sign that they deal with problems in a relationship realistically. |
